Wow, this topic now takes me to the time that I really enjoyed. Another trip to the past, and I am again loaded with energy and am bubbling with tonns of enthusiasm to pen my sweet memories. It was time for the XII examination results and I was very keen and excited, though I was not really interested in Medical or Engineering Streams. My main target was English Literature, History,Journalism, or some profession in the Airline Industry - Basically Arts.Decent scores, my application began to roll in Meenakshi, Stella Maris and Ethiraj, the best ones in Chennai. Meenakshi was and is still very well known for it's discipline , and I finally ended up there, with History as my Major.
Day 1- Thank God! a couple of my school mates also joined with me in the same major. So we went into the class together with dreams of having lot of fun and were excited about coming to the college in colourful attires and ofcourse stylish ones!
The whole class was in high spirits all the girls introducing themselves to each other, peer groups already forming. Now the terror part! Our class teacher came in . The class was kind of noisy, and guess what! She said,"Students!
All of you stand up! Pindrop silence! 1hr standing punishment!"
What a mark to make on the first day, in the first hour! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. We hated her! One by one , all teachers came , some were very cool and nice, some had a straight face!
Bunking in college was really hard then, but I wanted that experience too....Hindi ka Ithihaas period, one hour of utter boring subject, peak noon hour, when tummies are hungry...My friends and me decided to bunk. For those who don't know, Meenakshi College has a temple -Shardhambal temple . My ! I was really scared and guess what, we bunked class and directly went to the temple, stayed there for an hour, promising never to do that again!
But, ofcourse, we got used to it.
My first Scooty was presented to me by appa, after a couple of months.Like a free bird I drove it to college daily from Mylapore and sometimes even took triples on that! Hihi good no policeman caught me on that. I loved the vehicle, it was my life!
The best hangout place in my college was the canteen - a real small one. The guy served only Parothas, Kurma, Samosas, all kinds of Chips and Cool drinks. Everyday was a treat for us and it was yummy. At the end of the third year, the canteen really grew big with lots of varities and yum yum food. Thanks to Lakshmi mam, our principal!
Navras and Kojagraha , was the best time in our college. It was festive and inter-collegiate competitions were held.We had Mime, Potpurrie, Fashion shows, Quiz, Dance competitions, Music and Instrumental Competitons, Skits.I loved to participate in there and enjoyed it to the best! It was the Fun-Frolic season of the college, with conditions like- No whistling, No throwing Paper Arrows and most of all, NO TALKING TO BOYS from other colleges! Do you think we followed??hihih

The college had this social network club,The Leo Club, and I was chosen to be one of the Directors. We conducted several Blood Donation Camps in our college and also went on social work programmes to help the needy. One thing that is still fresh in my memory is the trip to VISHRANTHI old age home.It was sad to see so many old parents ,some abandoned there
and others who still have their children visitng them. We entertained these old people by singing, dancing, and helping them cook for the day. The old people were so happy and am sure its their blessings showered on us, that today we are doing good. Thanks Lakshmi mam!
Another memorable thing, was the Saree day, when everyone came in their best sarees beautifully adorned with the best accessories. It was one of the most colourful event then. Apart from this all National Holidays and Founder's Day was celebrated with pomp!
Though the college is considered to be strict, it enriches values of Hard-work, Honesty, Discipline and Devotion in the students.Schools and Colleges are temples were children embibe such qualities and thanks to my parents that they put me in the best ones! The three years I spent in the college was escastic .Lots of memories are still hitting me like huge waves, but it is not possible to put everything in writing!!My college life was very colourful and bright! My college and College life Rocks! Let me enjoy the rest of my memories all by myself, and hope you enjoyed this post!
Cheers
